The Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf has been a Scout for 50 years. As a Scout, the King has seen how important it is for young men and women to practise and develop leadership based on positive values. The King believes that more young people, both inside and outside the Scout Movement, should be given the opportunity to draw advantage of such an education.
Following an initiative from the Swedish Scout Movement, representatives from private companies, the public sector and non-profit organizations such as the scout movement and the National Sports Association, have therefore formed a foundation – Konung Carl XVI Gustafs Insamlingsstiftelse Ungt Ledarskap.
The purpose of the foundation is to support leadership education and training for young women and men in Sweden. The contributions to this foundation were, together with the names of the donors, presented as a gift to King Carl XVI Gustaf on his 60th birthday on April 30 2006.
